Anderson and Sheppard Merino-Cashmere Aran Cardigan

Anderson and Sheppard Merino-Cashmere Aran Cardigan

$300.00

Anderson and Sheppard, established in 1906 in London, is a pre-eminent Savile Row bespoke tailoring house that has outfitted generations of men demanding none other than the best suit in the world. The Haberdashery of Anderson and Sheppard, located on Clifford Street just off Savile Row, complements the tailoring house by offering ready-to-wear clothing of the finest quality to pair with the superlative A&S bespoke suit.

This cardigan, chunky in view, cloudy upon touch, rustic in its root, is what is known as the Aran cardigan — typical of what North Atlantic fishermen of the Aran Islands used to wear roaming the unforgiving winter ocean. Indeed, this cardigan is made in the very Aran islands that have been making the kind for centuries. The front and back panels are knitted in a variety of traditional cable stitches signifying its origin. Anderson and Sheppard classify the cardigan as a “jacket”, highlighting how it is usually worn as outwear. May we also suggest it be used as a trustworthy layering piece when skimming down a snow slope or, as what it was originally designed, cruising the Nordic seas.
